A quick update on the state of things around here.

It’s time for a massive overhaul. Our recent return to El Salvador and Mexico rekindled the fire. And I figured it was time to get my head back in the game.

We won’t be hitting the road full-time anymore. Our last big trip, pre-pandemic, burnt us out. Too much movement, too few sleeps in the same bed, long bus rides and constant adjustments. It’s fun and exciting, but it adds up. We were both mentally and physically exhausted at the end of it.

But that doesn’t mean we’re out, just that we’ll be keeping a home base for the foreseeable future.

And later this year, we’ll be making a triumphant return to the Balkans. Specifically, Albania.

Nearly a decade ago we spent a few weeks in the region, bouncing through Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. It’s a beautiful place with stunning landscapes and an incredibly deep cultural history.

Albania will be a new stop for us and the anticipation is mounting.

In the meantime, These Foreign Roads is undergoing a massive upgrade. We’re reaching out to our many friends and contacts around the world to update our guides with the most up-to-date information possible.

And soon, we’ll be hiring writers to keep the updates coming.

On top of that, we’ll finally get around to completing our long-awaited recipe section. We have so many unreal recipes to share from all of the countries we’ve travelled to. These should start trickling in soon.

So please be patient as we work on the updates, and as always, thank you for reading!
